Florida’s Primary Election is August 18, 2026! But you don’t have to wait until Election Day to make your voice heard. Find out how to vote early or return your vote-by-mail ballot!

On July 26, participants came together for SOARing with FLAAPP to learn how they could help their friends and families take part in the voting process. Through activities and discussions, attendees developed a stronger understanding of how voter registration and civic engagement can help communities have a say in decisions that affect them.

Participants practiced having one-on-one conversations about voter registration. They learned how to answer questions and address concerns from people who aren’t registered to vote while encouraging them to register and participate in elections. They also reviewed the offices on the ballot and went over a sample ballot to better understand what voters can expect.

The training covered key dates for registering to vote and casting a ballot in the primary and general elections. Participants also explored opportunities to get involved in local civic engagement, such as becoming a poll monitor or volunteering with ACT. The training helped make the voting process feel less intimidating and more accessible. By the end of the session, participants felt prepared to engage in their communities and help ensure their voices are heard!

Florida Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Progress (FLAAPP) denounces Governor DeSantis’s decision to label the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as a “foreign terrorist organization.”

Not only do states lack the authority to designate terrorist organizations, but this decision is baseless, inherently anti-Muslim, and would intimidate, silence, and endanger individuals and organizations fighting for the civil rights of all Floridians.

It really is scary out there! According to @floridapolicy, 1.5 million Floridians could lose healthcare coverage next year, including our AAPI families.

🕷️ And the nightmare doesn`t end on Halloween...
Open Enrollment starts November 1, so without a renewal of healthcare subsidies by Congress, millions will face higher premiums, copays, and deductibles.

🍎November SNAP benefits will not be available, leaving more than 1.2 millions of AAPI community members without groceries. For some families, SNAP is their only source of income; and with rising costs, a loss of benefits means that all SNAP families will struggle.

🏛️👩🏽‍🍼We NEED Congress to pass a budget that reopens the government, protects healthcare, and prevents families from facing hunger NOW.

🥼 Wear a white t-shirt so the colored powdered will stand out!
🎒 Bring a towel and a change of clothes for after the festivities.
💧 Bring a water bottle to keep hydrated.
📱 Protect your cell phone and other electronics with plastic or another covering.
